August is Happiness Happens Month
Did you know that there is a month dedicated to being happy? There are whole groups dedicated to being happy online. The Secret Society of Being Happy is just one group that celebrates this month! Happiness Happens Month (#HHM2018) is a month dedicated to celebrating happiness and the things that make you smile.
What makes you happy? Happiness is an unlimited resource we should all connect with daily. It’s contagious and can bring joy to others people’s lives. Sharing a smile with someone might be the one thing that brings joy to their day. Doing one small thing for someone else can boost not only your feelings of happiness and theirs too.
The Challenge is On
But why do we have to limit happiness to just one month? Wouldn’t we all be better off if we found happiness and joy in every day?
That’s why, for the next 30 days (and beyond) I challenge you to find ways to bring more happiness into your life every day. I’ve committed to doing some of these each day. Are you in?

How can you make someone happy today?
This month I challenge you to do something every day that makes someone happy. You’ll be surprised how much joy this will bring you. Ways to make someone else happy might include:
- Volunteer your time to help others in need.
- Opening a door for a mother who has her hands full of kids and packages.
- Help an elderly with their purchase.
- Give up your seat on the bus to someone else.
- Smile at someone who has a frown.
- Listen, really listen to a friend who is needing support (you don’t need to offer advice, just listen).
One way to keep track of how you are becoming happier each day by doing small things is to journal about it. I use this journal.
I created it to help me learn to quit whining, complaining and excessive worrying.
Let’s be happy!
